Hello. My name is Chuck and this is my story about how I met Jimin. A lot has happened since we met, but in 10 days I will be leaving to New York to do the craziest thing I've ever done. If you know me that is saying a lot. I've jumped off 4-story waterfalls and snuck into forbidden tombs. But putting my heart on the line is still the scariest thing.

Who knows how things will turn out, but I just wanted to write this down so I don't forget how everything happened.

At First Sight

Let's start at the beginning. I met her last year at the 2011 Las Vegas CosmoProf. I work in the beauty industry and my company had a booth. You learn by talking tirelessly about your company and its products. If you're lucky you run into a big retailer and hopefully all that practice pays off. CosmoProf is filled with herds of very pretty people, so you get numb to the pretty faces. I can't pinpoint what it was about her, but I do remember when I saw her. Yes, it was slow motion. She was walking with a coworker. She was dressed professional. I stopped her to talk. I was nervous. This wasn't just another pretty face. My refined craft unraveled. I fumbled words where my pitch was usually perfect. Nothing made sense. We exchanged business cards. I had to get back to work, but two thoughts stayed with me.

  1. She is the most beautiful girl at CosmoProf.
  2. Nothing would ever happen between us.

I have this theory that some people can do long distance and I am not one of those people. I'm just not. I need proximity. I need face-to-face time. Right when she told me she was from the East Coast, I put my feeling in a box labeled "Never to be touched", because I knew nothing would ever happen between us. I put a "If you ever go to New York" post-it on the box. Even after I got back from CosmoProf, I kept thinking "Wow, what happened?" Something about her wrecked me.

The song does justice to how I feel. Beauty for me isn't about one thing. It's not just physical. It's how she walks. It's how she talks. It's the honesty of a gentle expression. It's the fragrance. The impression she leaves on your heart.

Business Relations & Food

Our companies wouldn't naturally find a way to do business. Financially -- it didn't make sense for us. Our relationship at most would be one of networking within the same industry. Or that's what I thought. But I found a way for us to do business. We test marketed their BB Cream in our hispanic distributions and I pushed the sales. We made it work. As our business relationship grew, we communicated more. We emailed each other every once in awhile for business and mix in some personal banter.

On October 19th, she emailed me because there was a problem with one of our checks. She also told me she was going apple picking on Saturday. I told her my plans to go get UNI from Harry Sea Urchin in Santa Barbara after reading this blog. This is important, because Jimin told me that was the first time I really caught her attention. So I guess some good advice is to talk about what you're passionate about. She emailed me back after she got the check.
OMG!! You are the sweetest person ever!  Haha
I just received the check and the pack of tea.  Awww This looks really yummy and I’ll try to make an iced tea with it.  J
Apple picking went well and I was able to pick a basket full of different kinds of apple.
They taste so sweet and fresh.  Wish I was able to share them with you.  Why Cali so far from here!!  Haha
And the foliage was very pretty.  I’m so glad I went away then since we won’t be able to see foliage after this big storm this week.
The hurricane Sandy is on the way and we’re getting out of the office in 10 mins.  I think we’ll close tomorrow too depending on how severe the weather gets.  Hope there won’t be too much damage and I hope no one gets hurt.   Pray for us! J
I will let you know as soon as I survive this storm.  Speak to you soon~!
I wrote her a note with a bag of tea I sent. Reading this email from her made me smile the whole day. I prayed for her. I didn't pray for us date, but I prayed for her and her family. But this was the time she entered my prayers.
